what a catering hire company can do for you

Today, one of the best way to make sure that any London event – be it a party, a wedding, a large picnic, a corporate meeting or party – goes well is to hire a London caterer. These are professionals who are trained to manage events and provide food. When many people think of catering they think only of the food aspect but caterers do a lot more than that – they literally manage the event to ensure that it goes smoothly.

They are also in charge of things like desserts and drinks. There are many different kinds of caterers these days – you will find gourmet caterers, party caterers, breakfast caterers and so on. They choose to specialize so that they can provide the most professional service. You should know the different kinds of caterers available in London in order to choose the right one for your event.

There are some rules of thumb that you can use when choosing a caterer (they work in almost all cases). If you are having a large event, such as a wedding or a corporate event, you will be much better off hiring a traditional caterer – they are used to handling large groups of people and they can pull off your event successfully.

Lunch Caterers

Lunch Caterers

There are cases, however, when you have a few friends over and want to enjoy a special meal. In that case, you can call in a specialized caterer, such as a lunch caterer, a restaurant caterer or a brunch caterer as these are used to catering for small numbers of people.

When you are choosing a caterer you ought to be careful – not all of them are as good as they claim to be. A caterer has the ability to make or break your event so you have to be very carefully especially if you are hosting a large group. Make sure that you choose someone who has the necessary experience – they should have been catering for at least 5 years. You should know that there are caterers who specialize in certain kinds of cuisine such as Italian and Chinese so ask them if they can deliver the menu that you have in mind.

In addition to that, find out the last event that they catered that was similar to yours – get the contact details of that event’s host and ask them if they would hire the same caterer again.

Hygiene is very important in catering and that is why you should visit the caterer’s kitchens before you hire him. Does it look sanitary? How about the staff? Are they clean? Does he have enough equipment to pull off your event? Does he have enough staff to make sure that everything works out smoothly? These are all things that you want to find out before you sign any contract with any London caterer. Lastly, always get a written quote that is broken down to showaall expenses.

Tips for Choosing the Best Catering Company

guidance for the catering industry

It doesn’t matter whether you are planning a wedding, a birthday party or a corporate event – the catering company that you choose is crucial in making it a success. Unfortunately, there are many caterers out there who are not really as good as they claim to be. For you to be sure that your event will turn out just the way you want you have to do your homework in order to find the best. Use these tips to guide you:

• The first thing that you should do is narrow down the number of possible candidates. If you are looking at a large number of caterers it can be hard to choose. You can start with caterers that you already know or those who are located close to you. If you are new to the catering business then you can ask friends, family and colleagues for recommendations.

are they clean and hygenic

• The next thing to do is go to their premises. What kind of a kitchen do they have? Are they clean and hygienic? Do they look like they have the right catering and kitchen equipment? Do you think they have the ability to successfully serve the number of guests that you will be inviting? Don’t be afraid to ask questions – the more information you have the better.

• Now you can discuss menu options. Find out the specialty of the caterer – what kinds of food do they usually cook? A chef who delivers mostly Italian food would have a hard time doing a Chinese or Japanese menu. Discuss what menu options are available and also whether they have food for guests with special needs.

catering staff• Find out if they have the necessary number of employees that are required to cook and serve at your event. It is not unusual to see food service stall at events because there are not enough cooks to deliver the food and there aren’t enough waiters to serve it. Different arrangements require different staffing. If you have a buffet, for instance, you can assume two waiters to serve around thirty guests. If you are having a sit down dinner, however, one waiter handles a table of eight and you need more to serve the drinks.

• Your caterer should be able to prepare a tasting so that you can have an idea of what they food will be like. It is also a chance for you to sample the payout and also the plates, cutlery and glasses that they will use.

Lastly, consider how much the caterer is charging you for everything. You shouldn’t have to pay too much but at the same time you don’t want to hire a caterer only because they are cheap – they may end up not delivering as promised. Look for someone who does quality work and who you can afford.

At the Reading Festival, the Black Pig Catering firm WINS

Posted by on Sep 7, 2015 in Caterers, Catering, Festivals, Food |

black pig cateringBlack Pig Catering is a new catering firm specialized in serving halloumi and chorizo buns and they have lived up to the record by getting the top award for hygiene at Reading Festival this year.

The ‘Reading Borough Council’s 2015 gold Alfresco Award’ was given to this new firm ‘the Black Pig Catering’ after it emerged with top marks.
Black Pig Catering Company with its food truck overwhelmed the council which scrutinizes food outlets at the Reading Festival and provides them a food hygiene evaluation, after attaining top marks in food safety at its foremost arena pitch.

This new catering firm was founded by Adam Blackett in 2015 and the festival was only its 2nd show of 2015. And as a further compensation, Black Pig wins a free pitch at the upper year’s Reading Festival.

This isn’t an easy one to win though, as a firm must get a maximum rating of five in the inspection and be eligible for the award. And catering firms must also pass strict criteria, which include good ethics of hygiene, health and safety and a respect for environmental matters.

To resolve which caterer wins a gold, silver or bronze, the council put forward 13 of the 120 firms qualifying for the award for consideration by event organizers ‘Festival Republic’.

The organizers judge standards such as safety, how staff transport to and fro the festival, and if they use eco-friendly or green cleaning products and how they proceed in recycling waste.

The second place for a silver award was given to Gilcombe Farm, a firm run by Andy and Lisa Portch, providing Hog Roasts in the arena. With this position, it is authorized to a 20% discount next year.

The third place for a bronze award was offered to ‘The Teabag Chiuahua catering company’ which specializes in Mexican food. And with this position as well, it is entitled to 10% off next year.

For the last sixteen years, the most hygienic food suppliers have been giving Alfresco Awards – thanks to this successful and popular scheme run by the council in Readings.

People who find their way to this festival simply want to have fun, and also be afforded the familiarity that they are purchasing food that is of high quality, hygienic and up to standard.

The awards reveal the quality of catering and absolute option of food on offer as with regards to excellent standard of service.
